The Israeli Phenomenon: From Creative Desert to Creative World Centre

There was only one news channel and no original production in Israel 20 years ago. Israeli TV today surprises the whole world: for the last 5 years local companies have distributed 150 series and show formats to more than 70 countries in the world. Original and bold ideas combined with low budgets attract industry giants such as American channels ABC, CBS, Fox, HBO, Showtime, etc. to Israel.

Very recently, on January 15, 2012, another American TV series (“Homeland”), created using an Israeli format, won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama.

What is the reason for this burst of creativity and professionalism? We have invited the key people who define Israel’s TV image in order to answer this question.
