Managing partner, Altera Capital
Vyacheslav Pivovarov founded Altera Capital in 2009, and has headed up the company since.
Before he created his own company, Mr Pivovarov was an Advisor to Russia’s Economics Minister. He developed the concept of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, attracting strategic foreign investments for technological modernization and structural diversification of the economy.
Prior to joining the ministry, Mr Pivovarov worked as Managing Director at Citibank in New York, in charge of restructuring portfolio investments. He participated in Citibank’s sale of the hedge fund Old Lane, at which he was a Partner. From 2006 on, he managed the international investment team at Old Lane.
In 2003-06, he worked at the New York hedge fund Third Point. Earlier, he was an Investment Analyst at the fund Relational Investors (San Diego) and the macroeconomic hedge fund Everest Capital (Miami). Before moving to the US, he worked at CCSH Rothschild Group in Paris as a Project Manager, later being promoted to Presidential Advisor on International Affairs. He began his career in 1995 in the financial department of insurance company AXA in Paris.
Mr Pivovarov graduated with a degree in International Economic Relations from Moscow Management Institute and the American University in Paris. He has an MBA from Stanford University.
