President, Center for Strategic Research
Mikhail Dmitriev has headed the Centre for Strategic Research since June 2004 and became its president in October 2005. From 2000 to May 2004, he served as First Deputy Minister at the Economic Development and Trade Ministry. He began work as a researcher at the Leningrad Finance and Economics Institute in 1983, and from 1991 to 2000 he held several government positions (including First Deputy Minister at the Labour and Social Development Ministry in 1997-98), as well as working at the Carnegie Moscow Center and the Institute of Economic Analysis.
Mr Dmitriev graduated from the Leningrad Voznesensky Financial-Economic Institute in 1983 with a specialisation in economic cybernetics. In 1989, he received a PhD in economics. In 1997, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
