Managing Director, Christie's Russia
Matthew Stephenson is the Managing Director of Christie’s Russia, appointed in April 2009, and heads the representative office in Moscow. In this role, Mr. Stephenson focuses on Christie’s Top Client Program in Russia & CIS; engages with the Russian Museum and cultural community; and builds greater awareness of Christie’s services amongst Russian collectors.
Mr. Stephenson is also a senior specialist and member of the Christie’s international Impressionist and Modern Art department.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Stephenson was in charge of Christie’s leading Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sales in London. He began his career at Christie’s in 1999 as a specialist in the 19th Century European Art Department. Mr. Stephenson graduated from King’s College, London, with a degree in Medieval and Modern History, after which he completed the Christie’s Graduate Training Program.
