Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Kairat Kelimbetov is the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a post he took up in January 2012.
Prior to taking his current position, Mr Kelimbetov served as Kazakhstan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade. His experience before this includes being CEO of Sovereign Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna”, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and CEO of Sustainable Development Fund “Kazyna”. He has also served as Kazakhstan’s Minister of Economy and Budget Planning, First Vice Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning of Kazakhstan.
Mr Kelimbetov is a graduate of Moscow State University and also attended the Market Institute of the Kazakh State Academy of Management and the National School of Public Administration of Kazakhstan. In 1999, he completed the Pew Economic Freedom Fellows Program at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in Georgetown University.
