Mr Korsik graduated from the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

From 1979–95 he worked in the civil service.

In the period from1995–97 he was Deputy General Director of (CJSC) KomiTEK-Moscow and a member of the Board of Directors of (OJSC) KomiTEK.

From 1997–99 here was Head of the Department for Strategic Development at Sibneft, and from 1999–2005: Senior Vice President for Production, Sibneft.

In 2006 Alexander was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Renaissance Capital. From 2006–07 he held the position of President of ITERA and created a new professional management team and developed the plan for the company’s IPO.

From 2007 to January 2009 he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors at RussNeft.

From 2009 – Senior Vice-president in AFK Sistema, Head of the Fuel and Energy Complex Business Unit, Sistema.

Mr Korsik is currently President of Bashneft, a position he has held since April 2011.
