Aleksander Torbakhov has been with Sberbank since 2010. Prior to that, he acted as CEO at VimpelCom from 2009 to 2010, was appointed CEO at Rosgosstrah-Zhizn Insurance Company in 2008 and became Vice President at Rosgosstrah Holding in 2005. Early in his career, he worked at the Moscow office of audit firm Deloitte & Touche and then joined the Rinako Plus Brokerage Company. In 1999, he became Financial Director at NIKoil; in 2001 he was transferred to the same position at NIKoil Investment and Banking Group, and within one year he became Deputy Chairman of the Management Board.

Mr Torbakhov graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1994 and the Moscow State Institute for International Relations in 1997. He received an MBA degree from a Chicago business school in 2005.
